Education and Culture in the European Union

Held on Friday, 23 October 2009 in the conference hall of the tobacco warehouse “P” the events dedicated to the 30 years since the signature of the Treaty of the accession of Greece to the EEC and to the EAEC entitled “Education and Culture in the European Union” co-organized by the Foundation of Thracian Art and Tradition, the Expanded Prefecture of Drama-Kavala-Xanthi and the EDIC of Komotini.

From 10:00 until 13:30 approximately 100 pupils aged 10-12 years from the 6th, 13th and 14th Primary School of Xanthi attended a creative workshop by personnel of the EDIC of Komotini and the Foundation of Thracian Art and Tradition entitled “Evropaixnidoupoli: learn about Europe through games” in order to learn about the history of Europe and the way the European Union (figures, dates, institutions, treaties, etc.) with an interesting and amusing way and especially through ground games.

In the afternoon of the same day at 20:00 held the event entitled “Education and Culture in the European Union” during which the Vice-President of the European Parliament and MEP of N.D., Ms. Rodi Kratsa-Tsagaropoulou spoked about the “Values of the European Union and its importance to the modern world” and the PASOK MEP of PA.SO.K., Ms. Chrysoula Saatsoglou-Paliadeli spoked about “Education and Culture in the European Union”. The event was coordinated by the member of the Board of the Foundation of Thracian Art and Tradition, PhD. Panagiotis Sotiropoulos.
